Zurich as Europe's financial metropolis

Zurich is Switzerland's densest economic area. Other major employers include Swisscom, Siemens, ABB and Zurich Airport. The agglomeration extends as far as Wetzikon in the Zurich Oberland and Baden in Aargau.

Bahnhofstrasse and Seefeld are home to hundreds of wealth management firms, law firms and consulting companies. In District 5, the former industrial quarter, there is now a lively startup and agency scene around Viadukt and Schiffbau. Around 90 percent of companies in the Greater Zurich area employ fewer than 50 people. They include specialised mechanical engineering firms in Oerlikon, media agencies in Zurich-West and SMEs in Uster and Bülach. These businesses form the backbone of the regional economy. The density of decision-makers per square kilometre is higher in Zurich than in any other Swiss city. The Digital Festival and numerous industry events also create recurring contact points for B2B outreach.
